Import an HTML Email

You can bring existing email templates into Templated by uploading an HTML file, a ZIP archive with images, or pasting HTML code directly.

Upload a File

  1. From your dashboard, click the Import button on the Create New card.
  2. Drag and drop your file onto the upload area, or click to browse. Supported formats:
    • .html — A single HTML email file.
    • .zip — A ZIP archive containing an HTML file and its images. Images are automatically uploaded and hosted for you.

Paste HTML Code

  1. Below the upload area, find the or paste HTML section.
  2. Paste your HTML email code into the text field.
  3. A preview of your email appears below.

Choose Your Editor Mode

Before importing, select how you want to edit the template:

  • Drag & Drop Editor — AI converts your HTML into editable blocks that you can rearrange and customize visually. Best for most users.
  • HTML Editor — Keeps the raw HTML and gives you a code editor with live preview. Best for developers who want full control.

Import

Click Import Template (for drag-and-drop mode) or Import as HTML (for HTML mode) to create the template and open it in the editor.

Working with ZIP Files

When you upload a ZIP archive, Templated extracts the HTML and any image files, uploads the images to cloud storage, and updates the image paths in your template automatically. If any images fail to upload, a warning lists the affected files.

Tips

  • ZIP imports work well with exports from design tools like Canva, Figma, or other email builders.
  • The drag-and-drop conversion handles most standard email HTML, but complex layouts may need minor adjustments after import.
  • For HTML you plan to edit by hand, choose the HTML Editor mode to preserve your exact markup.
